MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Campbell combined for a 10-under 278 and is two shots off the lead after Sunday's opening round of the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate at Grande Dunes Resort Club.
 
Elon leads the 16-team field through 18 holes at 12-under (276), followed by Texas-San Antonio (277), Campbell (278) and Lipscomb (279).  Host Coastal Carolina is knotted in a 3-way tie for fifth at 8-under 280 on the par-72, 7578-yard Grande Dunes layout.
 
Campbell senior Joachim Larsen Tegner turned in a 4-under 68 and is tied for sixth place in the 90-golfer field.  Benjamin Killingstad and sophomore transfer Guillermo Ochoa finished the day at 3-under 69 (T14), while William Sundborn is T44 at even par.  Erik Johansson shot 80.
 
As a team, the Camels played the par-5 holes 11-under, tied for first in the field, and made 24 birdies (third).  Larsen Tegner, Killingstad and Sundborn each were 3-under on the par fives.
 
Larsen Tegner bogeyed his second hole of the day, the par-three 11th, then reeled off 3-straight birdies.  He played the front side – his last nine holes – two under, finished the day with seven birdies (T3).
 
Killingstad was two-under before making his only bogey of the day on his 12th hole – the par-4 third.  He responded with birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-3 eighth.
 
In his first outing for Campbell after transferring from Wagner, Ochoa's day included 7 birdies. After making the turn at 3-under, the sophomore from Mexico made double bogey on the par-5 fourth but reeled off birdies in his next three holes. 
 
Ciaran Murphy of Lipscomb shot a 7-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Coastal's Jack Lee and Elon's Jack Weiler heading into the second round.
 
Campbell will be paired with Elon and UTSA on Monday and start from the first tee at 9:30 a.m.  The 54-hole event concludes on Tuesday.  Live scoring is available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
