Camels split first day at Georgia Tech Classic

ATLANTA, GA. - The Camels split the Friday doubleheader at the Georgia Tech Classic with a win over Southern Indiana and a loss to Xavier. The day moves Campbell to 2-2 on the young season.

Campbell vs Xavier
Campbell took the opening frame 25-21 behind five early kills from McCartney. Campbell trailed 3-0, but scored the next four points and never trailed again to win the set and take the early advantage.

Xaveri jumped into the lead taking the second set 25-16 and the third 25-21. Campbell's offense sputtered during the middle frames, hitting -0.080 and .078 between the second and third.

The offense came back to life to prolong the match as the Camels hit a match-best .382 in the fourth and take the set 25-22 and force a deciding set.

Campbell suffered its first five-set defeat since 2024, with Xavier claiming the fifth set 15-10.

Emma McCartney and Victoria Tupy paced the offense with 15 kills apiece. McCartney (15k, 12d) and Hannah Pattie (20a, 16d) each logged double doubles.

Xavier was led by 16 kills from Ava Tilden.

Campbell vs Southern Indiana
The Camels picked up a four set victory over Southern Indiana in the nightcap.

The Eagles had a pair of players log 20+ kills, but the balanced Campbell offense and a stout effort from the front row posting 12 blocks lifted the Camels to the win.

McCartney and Tupy again led the offensive attack with 17 and 15 kills, respectively. McCartney posted a massive double-double with 17 digs, giving her two double-doubles for the day.

Campbell again picked up the first set, thanks to scoring five of the set's final six points to pull away for the 25-21 win.

USI evened the score with a narrow 25-22 second set win. This time it was USI using a late surge to capture the set, scoring three of the last four points in an otherwise back-and-forth frame.

The Camels regained the lead in the third, putting away 16 kills in the set, as Tupy led the way with four in the set.

Campbell hit a match-best .368 in the fourth set. McCartney was at her best late, putting away six kills on .500 hitting without an error.
