The Department of Athletics operates in a manner designed to
protect and enhance the physical and educational welfare of
student-athletes, as well as, to expand the opportunities available
for participation whether they be athletic or any other extra
curricular activities. The Campbell University Department of
Athletics has organized a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to
facilitate communication and involvement between student-athletes
and administrators and to better integrate student-athletes into
the general student body. This committee meets every two weeks to
address specific concerns raised by student-athletes, to examine
the Academic Services Program, and to explore various means of
enhancing student-athlete welfare.
Specific qualifications for membership require the
student-athlete to possess a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or better and a
willingness to participate, to have lettered in a sport for at
least one year, and to have no disciplinary points against their
student record. The student-athlete must be a person of high
character and moral value, exemplifying concern and compassion
towards others and motivation, dedication, and diligence in their
work on and off the playing field. Each team's coach nominates the
members of this Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The SAAC
Advisor will present these nominations to the Faculty Athletics
Committee whom, in turn, selects a maximum of 16 male and 16 female
student-athletes. Each member will serve a one-year term and will
be eligible for re-nomination in the fall.
