Camels Use Entire Team Effort in 14-0 Win Over Princeton

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Campbell left-hander Jeff Stovall pitched seven shut out innings and the Camel offense provided a season high fourteen runs and twenty-one hits on their way to a 14-0 victory over Princeton, Monday night in Buies Creek.
Stovall, who walked just one batter while striking out four, combined with Josh Blades and Brandon Yates to record Campbell's second shut out of the season. Stovall at one point retired sixteen Princeton batters in a row.
The Camels struck for three first inning runs, highlighted by Jason Brown's two-run, home run over the left field fence. Brown's home run knocked in Tom Rispoli and gave Brown his third homer of the year.
CU built on its lead in the third inning when Josh Cotten doubled to lead off the inning. Jason Brown walked, followed by a Kyle Ellenz single and an error by Princeton center fielder Mark Grayson, allowing Cotten to score. Phillip Strickland knocked home both Ellenz and Brown to give CU a 6-0 lead.
Alston Hatch knocked home Ellenz in the eighth inning to give the Camels a 7-0 lead. CU capitalized on and error by the Tigers left fielder Eric Fitzgerald to extend their lead to 8-0.
In the eighth inning, the Camels scored six times, including four runs with two-men out to take a 14-0 lead.
Jason Brown started things off with a one-out double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Ellenz drove Brown home with a of his own. With two-outs, Hatch tripled off the center field fence, scoring Ellenz. Strickland collected his third RBI of the game, driving Ellenz in on a double to right field.
