BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Freshman Jonathan Rodriguez scored a career-high 29 points in only 21 minutes and Campbell defeated Division II Ohio Valley 107-65 on Saturday in men's basketball action at Carter Gym.

Frosh Kyle Vejraska added season-highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Camels, who improved to 5-0 at home this year and reached the century mark for the fourth time in five contests at their 53-year-old on-campus facility. Reggie Bishop added a season-high 15 points, while Eric Smith had 10. All 11 Camels scored and were credited with at least one assist each.

Ruell Pringle, who entered the game as CU's leading scorer at 15.2 points per game, finished with seven points on 3-of-6 shooting, but tied his career-high with 7 assists. Jake Wohlfeil added 6 dishes and Ledell Eackles five for the Fighting Camels, who had 32 assists on 40 baskets.

Chris LeBorious led Ohio Valley (3-6) with 27 points and 14 rebounds. The junior center made 12-of-17 shots from the floor, but his teammates combined to hit only 17-of-54 (.315) attempts. Caleb Canton added 10 points and six rebounds for the Fighting Scots.

The Fighting Camels (5-5) hit their season-high point total and converted 26 OVU turnovers into 33 points. Campbell also totaled 32 fast break points to 10 for the visitors and led by as many as 45.

Rodriguez, a forward from Miami, Fla., followed a season-low 2-point outing last Saturday at Virginia Tech by making 12-of-16 from the floor, 4-of-5 from the stripe and adding 9 boards, 3 steals and 2 assists without a turnover. Vejraska, a forward from Alachua, Fla., made 6-of-9 shots, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, in only 19 minutes.

Campbell shot 54 percent (40-74) from the floor and made 10-of-21 threes (.476) in addition to holding a 49-38 advantage on the glass. CU's 19 steals were one shy of the school record the program set on Feb. 5, 1979 vs. Pembroke State.

The Fighting Scots made just 40.8 percent (29-71) of their shots overall, 2-of-20 (.100) from 3-point territory and only 5-of-14 (.357) from the free throw line.

CU went on an 18-1 run early in the first half and led 60-24 at the break. After Canton's jumper brought OVU within 6-4 with 16:12 remaining, the Camels held their opponents without a field goal over the next 4:24. Rodriguez had 15 points in the opening period, while Vejraska added 12 as the Camels made 7-of-14 threes and held a 20-2 advantage in points off turnovers at the break.

Ohio Valley shot just 33 percent (10-of-30) in the first half and missed 13 of its 14 three-point attempts in the opening period.

Off to the program's best start (5-5) since the 1997-98 season, the Fighting Camels open Atlantic Sun Conference play Tuesday in a 4:00 p.m. tip-off at North Florida. [Box Score]
