BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Spencer Angelis and Chris Clare both knocked in four to lead visiting High Point past Campbell 10-2 in Monday's Big South series finale at Jim Perry Stadium.
High Point goes to 14-12 overall and 4-5 in Big South play while Campbell dips to 19-9 on the year and 5-4 in conference games. The conference series was just the second in two seasons that the Camels have dropped in Buies Creek.
Angelis went 1-for-3 on the day with a three-run home run in the sixth and a sacrifice fly in the first, while Clare plated runs on a two-RBI single in the fifth, and sacrifice flies in the second and fourth.
Kyle Brandenburg also went 4-for-4 and Brady Williamson posted a 4-for-5 day for the Panthers, who gathered 17 hits as a team in the win. Both scored twice.
Andre Scrubb (2-4) fanned five in seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned on seven hits. Cas Silber pitched the final two frames striking out two with a walk and a hit.
Andrew Witczak (2-2) allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with and a strikeout in four innings. Bobby Thorson surrendered four runs on six hits, also adding a strikeout.
Landon Tilley allowed two runs on four hits with a punchout, while James Darcy and John Allen combined for the final three outs in the top of the ninth.
Matt Nadolski drove in Campbell's first run of the day with a sacrifice fly in the first.
Clayton Brown added another with a solo shot to left, the second-year Camel's first homer in a CU uniform. Steven Leonard also picked up a hit and scored a run in the loss.
HPU took Sunday's opener 8-6 before the Camels posted an 8-5 game two Big South win in the rain-delayed series.
Campbell will host North Carolina State on Tuesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. in a makeup date, originally scheduled for March 25. CU heads to Elon Wednesday and returns to Jim Perry Stadium to host Presbyterian on ESPN3 Friday at 7 p.m.
