FARMVILLE, VA. – Quincy Taylor scored 25 points and Longwood held off a furious Campbell rally to claim a 70-65 Big South win Saturday at Willett Hall.

Campbell trailed by 19 at halftime (34-15), but hit 9 of its first 15 threes in the final period to pull within 64-63 with 1:45 to go.  However, Taylor, Shaquille Johnson and Darrion Allen all made free throws in the last 122 to seal the victory.

Johnson added 13 points and Leron Fisher 12 for Longwood, which won despite not making a field goal for the last 9:18 of play.  The nation's second-most accurate 3-point shooter (.468), Taylor made 4-of-7 triples on Saturday and hit 9-of-10 from the line.

Longwood (9-22, 5-13) will take the ninth seed into the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Championship and face 8th-seeded Presbyterian Wednesday at 12 noon.

Freshmen Curtis Phillips (24) and Troy Harper (17) combined for 41 points for the Camels, (10-21, 4-14) who will be seeded 10th in next week's tourney.  Campbell will meet the seventh seed in Wednesday's 2:00 p.m. first round game.

Phillips scored 19 of his career-high 24 in the second half by making his first six shots from the floor, including a trio of threes.  On the day, he canned 7-of-16 from the field, 4-of-9 threes, and all six of his free throws, while hauling in five rebounds and making four steals for the Camels, who shot 61 percent in the second half (17-28), 9-of-17 (.529) from 3-point distance.

Harper came off the bench to made 6-of-12 shots, 3-of-6 beyond the arc, in 21 minutes.  Ryan knocked down 3-of-7 triples and gathered a team-high eight rebounds.  Reco McCarter added 9 points and with three steals, moved into a tie for ninth place (116) on the school's career list in the category. The Camels, who made 11-of-30 triples overall (.367), but just 12-of-21 (.571) from the line.

Longwood finished the day 20-of-40 from the field, but didn't make a shot after Taylor's triple with 9:19 remaining.  The Lancers scored their final 12 points from the charity stripe and finished the day hitting more foul shots (23-of-29) than the Camels attempted.

Harper scored nine points in Campbell's 20-6 late rally that Ryan capped with a triple from the right wing with 1:45 to go that drew the Camels within a point.  However, the Camels missed their last two threes and fell just short despite a 14-1 advantage in second-chance points over the final stanza.

Campbell went 9:08 without a field goal in the first half and trailed 34-15 at the break.  After Ryan's three cut the Lancer lead to 11-7 with 11:16 to play, Longwood outscored the Camels 19-5 before Phillips connected on a trey with 2:08 left in the half.

The Camels made only just 15.4 percent (4-26) of their first-half shots and endured their lowest-scoring period of the season.  Longwood shot 44 percent from the floor, but held a 10-1 edge in points off turnovers before the break.
