DAYTONA, FLA. – The Men's tennis team falls in their season opener to Bethune-Cookman 4-3 in a battle to the end. The Wildcats improve to 1-1 while the Camels start the season off 0-1. Campbell Men's tennis is back in action tomorrow as they face Embry-Riddle at 10 a.m. in Daytona, Fla.

The Camels came out strong winning the doubles point to go up 1-0 heading into the single matchups. Lukas Schaefer and Jonathan O'Neal took down the Chepik/Gtari (BCU) duo 6-2 while Nicholas Rakitin and Giorgi Datashvili defeated Barrera and Lopez 6-3.

The Plazas/Almerda (BCU) duo led 5-3 over Lorenz Schwab and Dustin Werner before the match was called.

Freshman Gerard Sola and junior transfer Rakitin each won their single sets for the Camels. Sola won over Almeida in straight sets (7-5, 7-5) and Rakitin followed suit downing Lopez 6-1, 6-0.

The match came down to the threes of O'Neal and Jose Plazas as the team score sat tied at three points each. The Wildcats edged out the Camels as Plazas defeated O'Neal in three sets to win the match for Bethune-Cookman 4-3.
