BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell returns to Barker-Lane Stadium, hosting Jacksonville for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28.
The Camels (5-3, 4-1 Pioneer Football League) will look to bounce back from their first PFL loss of the season, welcoming JU (4-3, 2-2 PFL). CU fell at Butler 37-23 in week eight, allowing season highs in total yards (431) and points. The Dolphins took a 63-10 loss to league-leading San Diego.

Last Time Out
Butler forced three Campbell turnovers and Sam Schrader accounted for three touchdowns, handing the Camels their first loss in PFL play this season, 37-23 at the Sellick Bowl.
The Bulldogs owned a vast 41:49 to 18:11 advantage in time of possession, running 85 plays to Campbell's 50. Butler also converted 14-of-20 third downs in the win, while holding Campbell under 50 yards rushing for just the second time since 2012 (10/13/12 at San Diego, 21 yards; 11/19/16 vs. San Diego, 47 yards).
Aaron Blockmon paced Campbell with 128 yards receiving with a touchdown on seven catches, notching his ninth career 100 yard performance.
Daniel Smith passed for 321 yards, a season-best for the redshirt freshman, completing 25-of-33 passes with two touchdowns and an interception.
Scott Miller led the Campbell defense with a game-high 11 tackles, including 1.5 stops for loss.
Packing the House
A year after finishing fourth in the country in average attendance capacity, Barker-Lane Stadium is again packed in 2017. The home of the Camels averaged 5,523 fans per game in 2016 (100.42 capacity percentage), and through four games in Buies Creek this season, CU is averaging 5,581 (101.47), good for 10
th nationally.
Two of Campbell's four games have entertained more than capacity crowds, including a season-best 6,387 fans in the team's 38-0 win over Morehead State, the stadium's fifth largest crowd ever. Since 2013, Barker-Lane Stadium has hosted 12 sellouts.
Leading the Camels
The Camels are led by redshirt freshman quarterback
Daniel Smith, who has combined for 2,112 yards of total offense this season. Smith has passed for 15 touchdowns, tying Campbell's single season record (Brian Hudson, 2013), also leading the team with 711 rushing yards.
Blockmon has hauled in 377 yards receiving with four touchdowns, while
Montel Goods and
Joshua Jones have combined for 744 yards on the ground.
Ranked among the best defenses in the country,
Jack Ryan owns a team-best 60 tackles for the Camels, who lead the FCS in takeaways with 23 and interceptions with 16. Campbell also ranks fifth in scoring defense (14.9) and 13
th in total defense (295.4).
Carlos Merritt adds 55 tackles with five interceptions, while
Emmanuel Olenga has collected 12.5 tackles for loss, including 7.5 sacks.
Scouting the Dolphins
JU has dropped two straight heading into its trip to Buies Creek, falling at Butler 37-22 before taking a 63-10 home loss to San Diego. Saturday will match up the PFL's top two rushing offenses. Jacksonville leads the league in rushing offense at 281.7 yards per game, while Campbell comes in at 215.0 yards per game.
Ryan Wells has passed for 963 yards with nine touchdowns, adding 356 yards rushing and six scores. Jamal Adjamah owns a team-best 399 yards rushing, adding four TDs, while Irvin Riley (322) and Keenan Simpson (305) have also topped the 300 yard mark.
Caysaun Wakeley has collected 41 tackles with 3.0 tackles for loss, while Griffin Garland has intercepted three passes with 36 tackles.
JU leads the all-time series with the Camels 8-0, dating back to 2008. The Dolphins claimed their 2015 meeting at Campbell 20-14. The teams were forced to cancel last season's date due to Hurricane Matthew.
