BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell (2-2) opens the Creek Classic at Gore Arena Friday in a 2 p.m. tip-off against Southland Conference member Abilene Christian (2-2).
 
Mid-American member Bowling Green (3-1) takes on USC Upstate (2-3) of the Atlantic Sun at 5 p.m. Friday in the first of three-straight days of basketball doubleheaders. CU last hosted an in-season event in Nov. 1997 - the Coca Cola Classic - at Fayetteville's Crown Coliseum.

The Camels enter the event after a 98-53 victory Monday over Johnson & Wales.  With the nation's 5th-leading scorer Chris Clemons (27.7 ppg) out with an injury, sophomore Marcus Burk hit the 30-point barrier for the second-straight outing with 31 on 12-of-16 shooting, including 7-of-11 threes.  Cory Gensler and Jon Ander Cuadra added 12 points each for the Camels, who shot 62.5 percent from the floor.
 
Abilene Christian dropped a 75-67 decision Monday to Lipscomb. Tevin Foster led the Wildcats with 24 points on 8-of-11 from the field, but Lipscomb shot 55 percent in the second half, and hit six 3-pointers after the break to earn the road win.
 
Clemons leads the Camels with a 27.7 scoring average and has made 87 percent of his free throws (20-23).  Burk averages 17.3 on the year, 32.0 over the last two games, after hitting a career-high 33 points Saturday at UNCW before Monday's outburst vs. Johnson & Wales.
 
A graduate senior guard, Foster tops four Wildcats in double digits at 16.8 points per game. Center Jalone Friday (15.8), wing Jaren Lewis (14.5) and guard Jaylen Frankin (11.5) are also averaging double figures through four games.
 
Campbell has scored at least 75 points in each of its four games, averages 91.2 per outing and is shooting 53 percent from the field.  Abilene Christian is averaging 91.2 points and shooting 52.7 percent as a team.
