BUIES CREEK, N.C. – David Robertson and Will Weeks combined for 41 points and Big South leader UNC Asheville defeated shorthanded Campbell 66-53 Saturday at Gore Arena.

Robertson hit 7-of-13 threes in a 23-point effort, while Weeks scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (22-7, 14-2), who won their ninth-straight and took over sole possession of first place in the Big South standings.

Playing without injured starting guards, Chris Clemons (the nation's fourth-leading scorer at 23.4 points per game) and Kyre' Hamer, Campbell scored only 12 first-half points, but shot 65 percent in the second half.

Marcus Burk and Shane Whitfield led Campbell (13-15, 6-10) with 14 points, while Cory Gensler added 11.

After a slow start, the defending Big South champs used a 12-2 run midway through the first half to open a double-figure edge and led 27-12 at the break.

Campbell hit six-straight field goals in the second period and cut the gap to 4-35 with 9:47 on Andrew Eudy's triple from the key, but Robertson answered with a three on the next possession and the Camels drew no closer.

Asheville, which entered the game ranked third in the nation in turnover margin, finished with a 21-8 advantage in points off turnovers, thanks in part to the fact that Campbell's two primary ball handlers did not play.

The Bulldogs shot 41 percent (21-51) for the game, made 9-of-24 threes, and 15-of-23 from the line.  Campbell hit 13-of-20 shots in the second half and ended the game at 38 percent (18-47).  The Camels made 8-of-23 from long range (6-of-11 in the final period) and 9-of-15 free throws.

Eudy led all rebounders with nine and Campbell finished with a 34-33 edge on the glass.

The Camels return to action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at High Point.
