Camels back in action Saturday at Miami

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coming off a short break for the Christmas holiday, Campbell returns to action Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip-off at Miami.  The game will air on the ACC Regional Sports Networks, including Fox Sports South.

The Camels (6-6) are coming off a 70-69 win over Alabama State last Saturday in the St. Pete Shootout.  Chris Clemons scored 36 points and Andrew Eudy added 16 for the Camels, who led by as many as 17.

Since dropping 4-straight, Miami (7-4) has won its last two outings, including a 75-55 triumph last Saturday over Florida Atlantic.  Ebuka Izundu had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Anthony Lawrence added 17, plus 8 assists for the Hurricanes, who jumped to a 23-point halftime lead and held FAU to 33 percent shooting.

  • Campbell is 3-4 away from Gore Arena this season, 0-3 in true road games.  CU fell at Ohio (81-73), Georgetown (93-85) and Abilene Christian (83-68) in its first three contests on opponents' home floors.
  • Miami stands 5-1 at home this season, the lone setback coming Nov. 28 against Rutgers (57-54) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
  • Guards Jacoby Ross and Reginald Gee lead Alabama State in scoring (13.7).
  • Saturday's game marks the first ever between the Camels and Miami.  Campbell is 1-31 all-time against current Atlantic Coast Conference members, with its only win coming on Dec. 4, 1993 at NC State (72-69 OT).  Kevin McGeehan-coached Camel teams are 0-1 all-time vs. the ACC, an 81-66 loss Nov. 16, 2013 at NC State.
  • Following Saturday's game, the Camels host NAIA member Allen Jan. 2 (7 p.m.) before opening Big South Conference play Jan. 5 at home vs. Gardner-Webb.
  • Miami is the only ACC team with five players averaging in double-figure scoring.
  • DJ Vasiljevic has made at least one 3-point field goal in 24-straight games, longest current streak in the ACC.
  • Ebuka Izundu ranks 2nd in the ACC in FG% (.702), 5th nationally. He has 4 double-doubles this season.
  • Miami currently has 7 scholarship student-athletes available.
  • Saturday's game marks the 3rd-straight the Camels have played in the Sunshine State. CU faced Austin Peay (L 75-88) and Alabama State (W 70-69) last weekend in the St. Pete Shootout.
  • Sophomore F Brooks Cluxton is the lone player on the Camel roster from the State of Florida (Oviedo/The Master's Academy).
