HIGH POINT, N.C. – Campbell athletes turned in three school record performances and seven podium finishes Friday in the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University.
While setting school marks,
Amon Kemboi (men's 1,500) and
Sabina Allen (women's triple jump) set meet and Vert Stadium records and
Carrie Baker established a new school standard in the women's pole vault.
Kemboi (3:43.49),
Lawrence Kipkoech (3:47.25) and
Ronald Cheserek (3:54.79) finished 1-2-3 in the 1,500 and Kemboi's time shattered the 36-year-old school mark set by Carl Ivarsson (3:45.70) in 1982.
Allen won the women's triple jump by matching her school record distance of 13.11 meters.
Darius Prescott claimed top honors in the men's triple jump (14.34), while
Kelvin Kirui finished second in the 800 meters.
Shenelle McKay also collected a podium finish with a third-place effort in the women's high jump (1.66 m).
Baker's high of 3.66 meters (12 feet) in the pole vault was ninth-best Friday, but eclipsed the school record set by Courtney Raynor (3.45 m/11/3 ¾") in 2010.
Campbell athletes continue their spring season next weekend at the Aggie Invitational at Greensboro and the Phoenix Invite at Elon.
