TAMPA, FLA. –
Lawrence Kipkoech will move on to the NCAA Championships after a runner-up finish in the men's 10000 meters Thursday night at the East Preliminaries.
Kipkoech, a four-time All-American, narrowly finished second with a time of 29:16.72, edged by Alabama's Vincent Kiprop at 29:16.49. With the No. 2 finish, the Campbell junior will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
In the women's long jump,
Sabina Allen finished 27
th after a lengthy weather delay Thursday night, notching a 5.91 meter mark.
Kipkoech and Allen, along with
Amon Kemboi, will be back in action on Saturday for the third and final day of the NCAA East Prelims at USF Track & Field Stadium.
Allen will compete in the women's triple jump at 12:30 p.m., while Kipkoech and Kemboi will be in the men's 5000 meters field, taking the track at 8:05 p.m.
