HIGH POINT, N.C. – Seven Camels posted podium finishes Wednesday on day one of the 2018 Big South Outdoor Championships.
The men's team trails Liberty's 66 points, standing at 39 points, while the women finished day one with 31 points, behind Liberty's 54 points.
Campbell swept all-conference honors in the men's 10000 meters, with
Lawrence Kipkoech taking the title with a time of 30:00.56.
Ronald Cheserek took second with a personal best 30:50.08, with
Meshack Kipruto finishing third at 31:00.70, another personal best.
Sabina Allen claimed her third consecutive women's long jump championship with a 6.17 meter mark, while
Shenelle McKay took runner-up with a 5.75 meter leap.
Also taking a runner-up finish was
Joan Maritim in the women's 10000 meters, posting a 36:23.19 clip.
In the men's discus,
Andrew Ward claimed third, registering a personal best 44.74 meters.
Chigozie Atavwigho also finished third in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.63.
Also with personal bests today were
Caitlyn Vester (women's discus, 27.49m),
Darius Prescott (men's long jump, 6.65m), Lakirah Forney (women's javelin, 25.83m) and
Brett Parks (men's pole vault, 4.62m).
Day two of the championships begins at 11 a.m. Thursday at High Point's Vert Stadium.
