EUGENE, ORE. –
Amon Kemboi finished fifth in the men's 5,000 meters Friday at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, earning First Team All-America honors.
Kemboi captured his third career All-America nod, posting a time of 13:56.37, just behind Northern Arizona's Andy Trouard (13:55.46). The CU sophomore took over the lead from teammate
Lawrence Kipkoech with five laps to go, pacing the pack until the final lap, when Stanford's Sean McGorty pulled ahead. McGorty held on for the title with a 13:54.81 mark.
Kipkoech, who also claimed Second Team All-America honors in Wednesday's 10,000 meters, finished 18
th in Friday's 5K, earning an honorable mention All-America nod with a time of 14:11.95.
Sabina Allen will round out competition for the Camels on Saturday at 6:40 p.m. with the women's triple jump.
