The Camels' 515 yards of total offense came on 266 passing yards, while rushing for 249, both season-bests. Campbell's three interceptions is the most since picking off four passes in last season's 49-3 win over Wagner in Buies Creek.
Kam Prewitt,
Darion Slade and
Malik Grate all intercepted Mercer passes, with Prewitt's 44-yard return going for a touchdown in the win.
Camels receiving FCS Top-25 votes
For the third time in program history, Campbell is receiving votes in a
FCS top-25 poll. The Camels picked up three votes in the AFCA Coaches' Poll, one of 15 programs receiving votes outside of the top-25. CU's three votes are the most all-time in the program's short history. Campbell also picked up votes in 2011 and 2018.
After their road performance, the Camels also picked up an honorable mention for
STATS FCS Team of the Week.
Another CU trio takes Big South weekly honors
For the second time in as many weeks, three Camels have taken
Big South weekly honors. After topping Mercer 34-27 on the road, Campbell's
Davarius Bargnare was named the league's offensive player of the week,
Kam Prewitt took defensive player of the week and
Hajj-Malik Williams claimed top freshman accolades for the second time this season.
Bargnare hauled in five passes for 121 yards, including his 76-yard third quarter touchdown scamper, while Prewitt's pick-six gave the game its first touchdown Saturday, adding two tackles and two more pass breakups. Williams completed 15-of-28 throws for a season-high 266 yards with a touchdown and an interception, tacking on 44 yards on the ground to earn his second Big South Freshman of the Week honor of the year.
This is the
second straight week that Camels have taken three of the Big South's four player of the week accolades.
