Last time out
Despite a career-high 22 points from Hayley Barber, Campbell fell 61-57 at Big South-leading Radford. After the Highlanders led by as many as 11 in the third quarter, Campbell stormed back with a 25-8 barrage between the third and fourth quarters, turning the run into a 54-48 lead with 4:11 remaining in the game. Barber posted 11 while Lauren Carter tallied seven points in the spurt, giving Campbell a six point advantage.

Four Campbell turnovers over its next six possessions, capped off by a steal and lay-in from Khiana Johnson returned the lead back to Radford, 58-57, with 1:02 remaining.

The Highlanders drained 11-of-13 attempts from the charity stripe over the final 3:22, and 22-of-31 in the second half alone in the win, despite shooting 3-of-21 (14 percent) from the floor in the half. Johnson's layup to give RU the lead was the only field goal for the Highlanders in the final 18:00 minutes of action.

Barber, who added four rebounds and three assists in the loss, made 7-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-10 from distance, the most three point makes by a Camel this season. Lauren Carter posted 16 points and five boards, while Luana Serranho chipped in 11 points for the Camels.

Saturday's contest was the second four-point game between the Camels and Highlanders, who took a 56-52 road win in Buies Creek on January 26. Radford entered Saturday with a plus-17.2 average scoring margin in Big South games this season.

Carter named Big South Freshman of the Week
After scoring 29 points across Campbell's two games last week, Lauren Carter was named the Big South's Freshman of the Week, the third league merit for the Fighting Camels in as many weeks.
Carter tied a career-high with 16 points at Radford before scoring a team-high 13 points in Campbell's 52-51 win over Charleston Southern. She has reached double-figures 10 times this season, including in each of Campbell's last four games.

Camel notes
Carter leads the Camels on the season at 9.6 points per game, adding 4.5 rebounds, while Shy Tuelle tacks on 8.7 points per outing. Taya Bolden owns 7.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game for Campbell, ranking third in the Big South on the glass. Barber adds 7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game for CU.

With at least four games remaining for the 2018-19 Camels, Campbell has secured a winning season for the sixth time in the last eight years, including the second time in three seasons under head coach Ronny Fisher.

Defensive Camels
Overall, Campbell leads the Big South and ranks 15th nationally in scoring defense, holding opponents to 55.5 points per game. In conference-only games, Campbell owns a 55.1 points-per-game clip, which ranks third in the Big South.

Campbell's 120 blocks this season is second in the Big South and ranks 34th nationally. CU's 74 blocks (4.9 bpg) currently leads the league.

The Camels are second in conference games in field-goal percentage defense, keeping Big South opponents to 34.3 percent from the field.

Campbell's overall defensive field-goal percentage of 35.1 percent ranks 11th nationally.

Notorious defense under Fisher
Under Ronny Fisher, CU has finished in the top three in the NCAA in points allowed each of the past two years. In 2016-17, the Camels claimed the program's first-ever NCAA statistical championship by holding opponents to a Division I-low 49.6 ppg. The 2017-18 squad finished 15-15, again fielding an elite defense, allowing 51.9 ppg, which ranked third in all of NCAA Division I.

Camels on the glass
Campbell's +4.1 rebounding margin ranks third in the Big South. The Camels stand second in the league in offensive (40.8) rebounding percentage and third on the defensive end (36.8).

Scouting Winthrop
The Eagles have dropped four straight and six of their last seven heading into Saturday's matchup with the Camels. Winthrop is led by Kem Nwabudu at 9.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while Jah'Che Whitfield posts 8.8 points per game. Anika Riley also gathers 8.2 points and 7.7 boards per game for the Eagles.
Campbell has taken seven of the previous nine meetings with Winthrop, owning a 28-11 record in the all-time series.

The Camels will be on the road for the final time in the 2018-19 regular season, heading to USC Upstate on Wednesday, March 6. Campbell closes out the regular season at home on March 9, hosting High Point.
