MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Matching a program best, five Camels have been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association All-State Softball Teams.
Campbell notched the most honorees among the field and matched a school record with four honorees on the NCCSIA First Team which included designated player
Abby Perryman, infielder
Kynadi Tipler, outfielder
Bri Bryant and the only unanimous first team player
Kayla Fredendall. Outfielder
Claudia Ware rounded out the group by tabbing second team honors.
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.
The Camels' five honorees matched a program record which was previously set in 2013 when the Camels tallied three first team members, two second team. The sole other occasion CU garnered four first team members was in 2008.
All four first team honorees follow the recognition after being named First Team All-Big South earlier this season while Ware was named to the Big South All-Freshman Team.
The quintet helped lead Campbell to a 26-28 overall record and a 14-9 mark in Big South play which was sufficient to finish third in the Big South Conference regular season standings.
Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, softball and baseball.
