MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY – Uruguayan first division member Club Trouville rallied late for a 78-71 victory over Campbell Thursday in the second game of the Fighting Camels' South American tour.
Trailing 59-54 after three quarters, the hosts outscored the Camels 24-12 over the final period.
Junior
Jordan Whitfield led Campbell with 13 points, while sophomore
Milos Stajcic added 12 and freshman
Messiah Thompson 10.
Trey Spencer contributed eight points for the Camels, who opened their tour with an 81-52 win Monday against the Buenos Aires Select team.
Thursday's setback marked Campbell's first loss ever on foreign soil. The Camels went 4-0 in a tour of Europe in August 2015 and also won a pair of games last November in the Jamaica Classic.
The Camels conclude their tour Saturday against the Liga Nacional Select Team at 6:00 p.m. in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Fighting Camels are coming off a Big South Conference regular season championship and three-straight post-season appearances, including a trip to the 2019 NIT. CU finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 20-13 mark and 12-4 record in the league.
