Box Score EMMITSBURG, MD - Katie Lockwood struck for two goals and
Ashleigh Harris added an additional strike as Campbell picked up its second straight win with a 3-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's Thursday night.
Lockwood netted both of her goals within a three minute span to secure the seniors second and third scores of the season.
Leading 1-0, the University of Alabama transfer scored her first goal of the night on a breakaway from Genas who found her breaking down the middle of the pitch.
Just three minutes later, Genas played a ball over the defenders to a lone streaking
Katie Lockwood who finished for the final score of the contest.
"I think this match gave us a lot to take away from. We are leaving with a great idea of how we want to play, adapt, and we have some great things to build on. To get multiple goals and a shutout on the road is very positive," said Campbell head coach
Samar Azem.
With Genas' two assists, it marks the fourth straight game the senior has recorded a point as she scored a sole goal in the Camels' (2-1-1) first three matches.
Sophomore
Reaghan Duval eliminated a couple of early chances for Mount St. Mary's and finished with five saves on the night to total 23 on the year. The Waxhaw, N.C. native has now gone 240 consecutive minutes without surrendering a goal.
Freshman
Ashleigh Harris scored the first goal of her young Campbell career in the 28
th minute off an acrobatic diving pass from
Jessica Donald into Harris right in front of the net for the finish.
Katie's goals were absolutely brilliant with great composure and phenomenal assist from Alexa," continued Azem. "It was great to get Ash on the scoreboard for her first goal of her career."
I thought Callie was absolutely brilliant for us in the back and McKenna did a great job on the ball as well as our front two lines are very dangerous and they're finding their groove together very well, closed Azem. "I am excited to build off this with our group."
Campbell continues game number two off a three-match road swing on Sunday with a matchup at St. Peters on Sunday with kickoff set for 12:00 noon.
