CHAPEL HILL – Patience Marshall broke her own school record in the women's shot put on Saturday at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge in Chapel Hill.
Marshall bested her former school record mark of 13.99m by throwing a 14.32m today. The sophomore standout finished second overall in the event today as unattached thrower Lena Giger placed first with a 16.30m throw.
ON THE TRACK: Daequon Carr and
Samuel Adams qualified for the 60m finals with times of 6.90 and 6.93. The duo both ran a 6.90 in the finals to finish sixth and seventh overall.
The women's 4x400m relay team comprised of
Jenae Dorsey,
Naelee Stone,
Nascha Blue, and
Chastity Pickett finished fourth in 4:04.20, outpacing teams from High Point and Hampton.
IN THE FIELD: Joy Gerow made a statement in her Campbell debut as she captured second in the women's weight throw with a mark of 14.75m.
Jenna Dankert earned two podium finishes in both the shot put and the weight throw. Dankert's 14.10m mark in the shot put is the second best throw in school history as the junior finished third, while in the weight throw she set another personal record of 14.64m to place third.
Marshall set a new personal record in the women's weight throw to go along with her shot put school record, setting her new mark at 14.24m.
Samantha Ennis displayed a strong performance in her first meet as a Camel as the freshman finished fifth in both the shot put (13.25m) and the weight throw (13.27m).
Andrew Ward placed fifth in the weight throw (16.42m) while
Jonhoi Clarke took fifth in the shot put (16.53m).
