BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After a midweek road trip, Campbell returns to Buies Creek, hosting East Carolina on Saturday. The opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Campbell (0-4) is coming off an 18-5 setback at Richmond, where the Spiders outscored the Camels 9-0 in the second half on Wednesday afternoon. Richmond held a 20-5 advantage on the draw, also outshooting the Camels 39-21.
Richmond led 9-5 at halftime after a pair of scores in the final minute of play in the opening frame, ending the game with 11 unanswered goals.
Sam Carey and
Laura Will both scored twice for the Camels, while
Ally Heath also notched a goal.
Mackenzie Kolesar chipped in an assist, while
Rebekah Taylor posted three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Alex Salim picked up 12 saves with a ground ball, her fourth game of double figure saves in as many outings.
Julianna Sanchez, named the
Big South's Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, owns a team-high 11 points on 10 goals and an assist, also picking up 13 draw controls. Will has recorded five goals and five assists, while
Megan Matthews' seven points have come off five assists and two scores.
Taylor has amassed 11 ground balls and nine caused turnovers, with Carey collecting nine ground balls, four caused turnovers, 14 draw controls and six points, including five goals. Salim also owns a .477 save percentage.
ECU is 2-1 on the season, winning two straight against Presbyterian, 19-9, and Wofford, 20-5, after dropping its 2020 opener at Furman, 14-11.
The Pirates are led by Nicole LeGar's 14 points, tallying nine goals and five assists with 14 draw controls. Megan Pallozzi and Megan Tryniski have both notched seven goals apiece, while Liz Blumthal has registered nine ground balls and six caused turnovers. Ashley Vernon is one of three Pirates to see time in goal, collecting 19 saves with a .432 save percentage.
Saturday will be the third meeting in as many seasons between the Camels and Pirates, who are also playing their third season of women's lacrosse. Campbell has claimed both previous matchups, including a
17-8 win in Buies Creek in 2018, and an
11-10 triple overtime thriller last season in Greenville.
Next up, the Camels will head on the road for two straight, taking on George Washington on March 1 and Mount St. Mary's on March 4. Campbell returns home on March 7, entertaining Bucknell.
