Camels head to Winthrop Thursday on ESPNU

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell begins a span of three games in five days on Thursday at Big South leader Winthrop in a 7 p.m. start that will be televised by ESPNU.

The Camels (11-11, 2-8) are coming off a 91-74 loss Saturday at USC Upstate and are seeking to halt a 4-game losing streak.  Cedric Henderson, Jr., scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, but Tommy Brunson tallied 21 of his game-high 30 points in the second half for the Spartans, who rallied from a 10-point deficit to win.

Winthrop (16-7, 10-0) extended its winning streak to 12 games Saturday with a 104-71 victory over UNC Asheville.  The Eagles shot 64 percent in the first half and led 52-36 at the break.  Chase Claxton came off the bench to lead Winthrop with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting, while DJ Burns (17), Hunter Hale (16) and Jamal King (11) also hit double digits.

  • Three Camels - Henderson (12.1), Jordan Whitfield (11.2) and Cory Gensler (10.0) - are scoring in double figures against Big South competition.  Overall, Henderson leads CU with a 12.2 scoring average.
  • Gensler enters Thursday's game just 15 points shy of 1,000 for his career (985).
