BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell defensive end Brevin Allen, a rising junior, has been named "The Best Player Who Wears No. 97" in the FCS by HERO Sports.

Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is naming the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.

Allen was looked at to contribute more as a sophomore last year. And he delivered.

He saw game action in 10 games as a freshman and had some bright spots. But last year was a coming-out party for the 6-foot-4, 255-pounder. Allen totaled 54 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and three quarterback hurries.

His play earned him All-Big South Second Team honors. Allen was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week after having eight tackles, 3.5 TFLs and a sack against Presbyterian on Oct. 5.

If Allen's development from his freshman to sophomore year continues into 2020, a special season is in store.
