Alfonzo, Linder named to ASUN All-Decade team

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The ASUN Conference announced the Women's Tennis 2001-10 All-Decade team as 21 student-athletes were named to the list across 11 programs. ETSU led the way with four student-athletes named to the All-Decade Team followed by three from Jacksonville and two apiece from Campbell, FAU, Georgia State, Stetson and Troy.
 
During the decade, seven programs captured ASUN Championship titles in ETSU (2), FAU (2), Jacksonville (2), Campbell (1), UCF (1), North Florida (1) and Troy (1). Eight different student-athletes from six different institutions earned the Player of the Year honor between 2001 and 2010. Seven squads made appearances in the NCAA Championship: Campbell (2001); UCF (2000, 2002); ETSU (2006, 2009); FAU (2003, 2005); Jacksonville (2007-08); North Florida (2010); Troy (2004).
 
Scarlett Alfonzo and Carmen Linder represented Campbell on the 2001-10 ASUN All-Decade team.  After 17 years as a member of the ASUN, Campbell rejoined the Big South Conference in the summer of 2011.
 
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections (Singles), four All-Conference selections (Singles) or multiple Player of the Year honors. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman of the Year or three All-Conference selections (Singles).

Scarlett Alfonzo, Campbell
Alfonzo made All-Conference appearances in 2005, 2007 and 2008 with a First Team nod coming in 2007. She was a member of the 2006 Campbell team that finished the regular season third in the league and advanced to the ASUN Championship Semifinals.
 
Carmen Linder, Campbell
Linder appeared on the All-Conference First Team three times in 2001, 2003 and 2004. The 2001 Campbell team won the program's only ASUN Championship in school history. She is one of three student-athletes with three All-Conference selections for the Camels and was also named Player of the Week in her career.
 
Carolina Aravena, Troy
The inaugural ASUN Freshman of the Year in 2001, Aravena was also a member of the All-Conference First Team that season. She also earned Second Team selections in 2003 and 2004 which makes her one of two student-athletes from Troy to make the team three times in her career.
 
Olya Batsula, ETSU
Batsula earned a total of three All-Conference selections during her career with ETSU being named to the First Team in 2006 and 2008 along with a Second Team honor in 2007. She was also a member of the team that won the 2006 ASUN Championship.
 
Anne Breiholtz, Georgia State
Breiholtz began her career with Georgia State in 2003 by being named the ASUN Freshman of the Year and earning selections to the All-Conference Second Team and the All-Freshmen Team. She followed up those accolades with First Team nods in 2004 and 2005 and is the only Panther student-athlete to earn a Player of the Week award.
 
Tara Byrne, ETSU
The 2006 Freshman of the Year, Byrne was also a member of the All-Conference Second Team and All-Freshmen Team in her first season. She also earned Second Team honors in 2007 and 2008 while earning a First Team selection in 2009.
 
Alena Dvorakova, FAU
A two-time Player of the Year, Dvorakova earned the honor in the 2003 and 2005 seasons which coincided with ASUN Championship title wins by FAU. She earned First Team All-Conference honors from 2002-05 and is the only student-athlete in the Owls' program history to be a four-time selection.
 
Annamaria Forgacs, Georgia State
Forgacs appeared on the All-Conference Team three times during her career with Georgia State earning a Second Team selection in 2003 and First Team honors from 2004-05. She is one of three student-athletes from GSU with two First Team selections.
 
Valentina Galbarini, Stetson
Galbarini was the league's Freshman of the Year in 2007 and was a member of the All-Conference Second Team and All-Freshmen Team that same year. After her rookie season, she was a First Team All-Conference selection for three consecutive seasons (2008-10).
 
Masha Ilina, ETSU
Ilina was named the Player of the Year following the 2006 season and was the first student-athlete from ETSU to earn the honor. She was a member of the Buccaneers' ASUN Championship team of 2006 and was selected to the All-Conference First Team twice (2006-07).
 
Linda Johansson, Belmont
Johansson is the only student-athlete in Belmont program history to be selected to the All-Conference First Team twice earning the honor in 2006 and 2007. She was also a member of the Second Team following the 2005 campaign.
 
Kristen Jordan, FAU
The back-to-back ASUN Player of the Year in 2000 and 2001, Jordan also was named to the All-Conference Team in both of those seasons. She was the first student-athlete from FAU to be named the league's top player.
 
Luisa Lopez, Troy
With three First Team All-Conference honors from 2002-04, Lopez is the only individual from Troy to earn the distinction. She is also the program's only student-athlete to earn a Player of the Week honor doing so in the 2004 season.
 
Mili Milovanovic, Stetson
Milovanovic earned All-Conference honors in each of her four years as a Hatter and is one of two student-athletes in Stetson's history to have four selections. She earned First Team nods in 2003, 2005 and 2006 along with a Second Team selection in 2004.
 
Ana Novo, USC Upstate
Novo is the only student-athlete in USC Upstate's ASUN history to be named Player of the Year earning the honor in 2008. She was named to the All-Conference First Team twice (2008, 2009) and is the only Spartan to hold this distinction as well. Her five Player of the Week awards rank tied for second-most in league history.
 
Teresina Paz Soldan, Mercer
Paz Soldan is the only three-time All-Conference selection in Mercer program history earning Second Team accolades in 2004 and 2005 along with a First Team nod in 2006. She was also a member of the 2003 All-Freshmen Team.
 
Sally Pearson, Jacksonville State
Pearson was named to the All-Conference First Team from 2000-03 and holds the distinction as the only Gamecocks student-athlete to earn four All-Conference selections.
 
Tatiana Soldatova, Jacksonville
With a total of four selections to the All-Conference Team (2007-10), Soldatova is one of three student-athletes from Jacksonville to be named to the lineup four times. With First Team nods in 2009 and 2010, she is also one of three Dolphins to earn that accomplishment.
 
Yevgeniya Stupak, ETSU
The 2009 Player of the Year, Stupak was also named to the All-Conference First Team four times during her career at ETSU (2007-10). She is the only student-athlete in the program's history with four selections and was also a member of the 2007 All-Freshmen Team.
 
Emese Sulyos, Jacksonville
Jacksonville's first ASUN Player of the Year, Sulyos earned the honor twice during her career in 2004 and 2007. She is the only Dolphin with four First Team All-Conference selections (2004-07) and the first to be named Freshman of the Year (2004), while her five Player of the Week honors are also a program record.
 
Lena Willi, Jacksonville
The ASUN Freshman of the Year in 2005, Willi finished her career with a total of four All-Conference selections as a Dolphin. She was a Second Team member in 2005 and followed up with three consecutive First Team nods (2006-08). She was also named Player of the Week twice.
