Campbell Baseball Releases 2021 Schedule

BUIES CREEK – Campbell baseball, led by seventh year head coach Justin Haire, is excited to officially announce its schedule for the 2021 season. The Camels are set to play a 50-game schedule featuring 40 conference games and 10 non-conference games.

Following a season with no conference games, Campbell will see plenty of its Big South rivals, with each weekend series except two against non-conference opponents, and a handful of mid-week games against Big South teams as well.

The season gets underway with a pair of home non-conference weekends. The Camels open up by hosting Liberty for three games from Feb. 19-21 before playing host to Dayton the following weekend, Feb. 26-28.

The remainder of the non-conference schedule will be played across four midweek games. This season, the Camels travel to NC State (Mar. 2), Duke (Apr. 13), and North Carolina (May 4). The Camels will also host one more non-conference opponent, College of Charleston, on March 9.

In addition to the heavy slate of conference games, the format will be unique this season due to challenges posed by the pandemic. Each conference weekend series will be a single game the first day, followed by a double-header the next day.

The Big South portion of the schedule gets underway early with a home series against Gardner-Webb on March 5-6, followed by another home series on March 12-13 against USC Upstate.

The first and longest road trip of the season begins March 16 with a mid-week conference game at Winthrop. Campbell will also travel to UNC Asheville (March 19-20), High Point (March 23), and Longwood (March 26-27).

Its then back home for two more weekend series, this time against Winthrop (April 1-2) and Charleston Southern (April 9-10). The Camels then trade off home and away series for the rest of the season.

The season wraps up at home on May 20-21 with a three-game set against High Point.

Twenty-six of the final 28 games of the season will be conference games for the Big South favorites. The extended conference schedule all leads up to the Big South Championship on May 27-29 at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C. Segra Stadium is a familiar venue for the Camels as it was also the site of the 2019 Big South Tournament that Campbell swept to clinch an NCAA Tournament Berth.

Campbell returns 28 letter winners from a year ago, with all spring sport student-athletes granted an extra year of eligibility. The team will be led by the Big South Preseason Player of the Year Collin Wolf. The redshirt-senior has been a staple of the Camels' lineup since joining the team, and figures to be a major piece of the left-side of the infield again this season.

Campbell wrapped up the 2020 season at 7-9, but due to the cancellation, remain the reigning Big South Champions after winning the last two conference titles in 2018 and 2019.

There has not yet been a decision about the attendance policy for spring sports. In the meantime, be sure to purchase a Camel Cutout to ensure your spot at Jim Perry Stadium for this one-of-a-kind season!
