BUIES CREEK, N.C. - After leading Campbell to a pair of victories that kept the Camels on top of the Big South table,
Jake Morris has been named league offensive player of the week, while
Franck Momo has received the defensive honor.
Morris scored for the fourth-straight match Saturday and has 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists) on the season – all against conference foes. He tallied what proved to be the game-winner and added an assist in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Longwood.
On Saturday, he scored the game's only goal in the 61st minute at Winthrop in a battle of the top two teams in the Big South standings.
In league games, Morris tops all Big South players in points (11) and game-winning goals (3). Overall, he has climbed into T7th in points (11) and goals (4), T6th in assists (3) and first in game-winning goals.
Momo provided the primary assist on Campbell's first two goals against Longwood and helped lead a defense that allowed only one goal – a first-half penalty kick vs. Longwood – over 180 minutes. Campbell held Longwood and Winthrop to a combined two shots on target, eight overall.
The 2020 Big South defensive player of the year, Momo has played in 13 of CU's 14 matches, starting 12 at right back. In addition to leading a defense that own's the league lowest goals-against average (1.14), Momo has scored twice this season and ranks third among Big South players with five assists.
The Camels (10-3-1, 5-0-0) travel to UNC Asheville (1-10-0, 0-5-0) for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff Wednesday before hosting USC Upstate Saturday (7:00 p.m.).
