2022 baseball schedule released

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell has announced its 2022 baseball schedule in what will be head coach Justin Haire's eighth season at the helm for the Camels. The slate features 56 games with 27 of those at Jim Perry Stadium. The schedule consists of 24 Big South games and 32 non-conference games.

After earning the program's first at-large bid a season ago, Campbell will face another strong schedule. Ten of the upcoming opponents were NCAA Tournament participants last season: Army, Charlotte, Duke, East Carolina, Liberty, Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, Old Dominion and Presbyterian. Campbell will play a total of 19 games against those 10 teams.

The Fighting Camels will open the 2022 campaign with a nine-game homestand. The season begins hosting App State (Feb. 18-20) before also welcoming ECU (Feb. 22), Maryland (Feb. 25-27), Air Force (Feb. 28) and NC State (March 2).

The first games away from home will be just down the road at an invitational at Fayetteville's Segra Stadium, home of the Big South Championship, where they'll face the trio of Army, Ohio State and Pittsburgh (Mar. 4-6).

The first true road games of the year come on March 11-13 with a road trip to Liberty followed by a midweek at UNC Greensboro (Mar. 16).

Campbell returns home to host West Virginia (March 18-20) for the final non-conference series.

The Fighting Camels went 28-9 a season ago in Big South play and will look to repeat as regular season champions this season. In league play, the Camels will host Presbyterian (Mar. 25-27), USC Upstate (Apr. 8-10), Longwood (Apr. 22-24), and Radford (May 19-21).

The Camels travel to Gardner-Webb (Apr. 1-3), NC A&T (Apr. 16-19), Winthrop (May 6-8), and High Point (May 13-15) for conference action.

Midweek games make a return to the schedule this season, and will see Campbell host ECU, Air Force (Feb. 28), NC State, UNCW (Mar. 8), UNCG (April 27) and Duke (May 4) on weekdays throughout the season.

The midweek road trips for the Camels feature UNCG, Charlotte (Mar. 22), Old Dominion (Mar. 29), NC State (Apr. 5), Duke (Apr. 12), North Carolina (Apr. 19), UNCW (Apr. 26), Ohio State (May 10-11), and ECU (May 17). The longest road trip of the season will have the Camels play nine games in 12 days at Winthrop, Ohio State, High Point and ECU from May 6-17.

The full weekend rotation from last season (Thomas Harrington, Ryan Chasse, Cade Kuehler) along with 2021 Big South Player of the Year Zach Neto all return to the roster. Justin Haire, the 2021 Big South Coach of the Year, will have plenty of returning pieces to work with.

Sixteen newcomers (seven freshmen, nine transfers) will work to offset 18 departures from last season's squad.
