BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell's
Brevin Allen and
Caleb Snead have both been named to FCS All-America squads.
Allen, a senior defensive end, was named third team All-America by both the Associated Press and HERO Sports, while Snead, a redshirt senior, was also tapped on the AP's third team at wide receiver.
The 2021 Big South
Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award, Allen led the Big South in sacks (9.5) and tackles for loss (17.5), ranking in the top-20 nationally in both categories.
The Greensboro, N.C. native set a Campbell single season record for sacks, while tying the program single season mark in stops for loss, standing as one of 10 Big South defenders with two or more forced fumbles on the year, adding 44 total tackles with a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and six hurries.
Allen was also named Big South
Defensive Player of the Week (10/11) after posting 3.0 tackles for loss, including 2.0 sacks, with two forced fumbles, five total tackles and a pass breakup in a win at Gardner-Webb.
Snead hauled in 1,067 receiving yards, 294 more than any other player in the Big South, also leading the conference in receiving touchdowns (10) and receptions (73) – all Campbell single-season records. The wide out was named First Team All-Big South as the league's only 1,000 yard receiver.
Ranking fifth nationally in receiving yards, ninth in receptions and 12th in receiving touchdowns, Snead posted three 100-plus yard receiving games, as well as three games with double digit catches, including a CU record 198 yards on 11 catches with two touchdowns at No. 3 James Madison, the most receiving yards by a Big South player this season.
The pair are the second and third Camels to garner outright All-America accolades, following Kurt Odom, named Third Team All-America at fullback by the Sports Network in 2013.
Three Camels have also been named to various freshman All-America teams, including quarterback
Hajj-Malik Williams (2019), wide receiver
Caleb Snead (2018) and quarterback Daniel Smith (2017). Linebacker
Justice Galloway-Velazquez, meanwhile, was named to HERO Sports' Sophomore All-American team in 2019.
