CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Campbell men's outdoor track has been voted to finish tied for first in the 2021 Big South Outdoor Track & Field preseason poll, as voted by the conference's head coaches. The Campbell women were voted to finish second, its highest preseason poll ranking since 2018.
The Campbell men, who have finished as Big South runners-up as a team in each of the past three outdoor seasons (2017-19), received its highest preseason poll ranking in program history.
High Point sits tied with Campbell atop the poll and ahead of Charleston Southern, USC Upstate, UNC Asheville, Winthrop and Gardner-Webb.
The men return a slew of all-conference athletes in Samuel Adams, Daequon Carr, Hunter Gilbert, Jonhoi Clarke and Josh Kudrick.
The women were voted to finish second for the third time in the past four seasons. Led by former outdoor all-conference performers Shanley Koekemoer and Patience Marshall, the Camels are seeking its first-ever Big South title. High Point was voted to finish first in the conference, ahead of the Camels.
Campbell is led by head coach Michael Kelly in his ninth season at the helm. Under his tutelage, the Camels have had nine All-America performances during the outdoor season.
The Camels continue its season at the Bill Webb Multi/Bob Davidson Invite hosted by High Point this weekend.
