Camels return to action at Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Camels will be on the road this weekend for the first time in 19 days for a weekend series against the Longwood Lancers. First pitch for game one of the doubleheader Friday (April, 2) is set for 1 p.m. with the next game starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The series finale will be on Saturday (April, 3) starting at 1 p.m.

This series will be Campbell's first games since their series against Winthrop concluded on Mar. 20, after multiple games had to be postponed or canceled.

Leading the Camels
Redshirt sophomore Claudia Ware leads the Camels offensively with a batting average of .333 on the season while recording a team-leading five doubles, three triples, and 10 RBIs.

In the circle, redshirt senior Megan Richards leads the team and the Big South with a 2.28 ERA across nine appearances on the season.

Last time out
Campbell will be coming back to play following, a thrilling 4-3 walk-off win against Winthrop (Mar. 20) securing the series win to open Big South Conference play.

The walk-off came courtesy of redshirt senior Destini England who with two-outs and trailing by one sent a 3-2 fastball to left-center just beyond the reach of the Winthrop center fielder for a game-winning two-RBI triple.

Before the late-game drama, the Camels and Eagles had split the doubleheader the day before with the Camels falling 3-2 in the first game before bouncing back with an impressive 17-4 victory in five innings.

England led the team offensively over the weekend, with a .545 batting average with six hits, accounting for five runs and six RBIs. Claudia Ware continues to lead the Camels on the season with a batting average of .333, with 18 hits, and ten RBIs on the year.
