BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell (3-5, 1-0 Big South) will make its Big South road debut at Winthrop (4-4, 2-0 Big South) on Saturday, April 3. The opening draw is set for noon at Eagle Field.
The Camels opened Big South play with a
15-5 win over Radford on March 13. CU will also travel to RU on April 14 for a nonconference meeting. Winthrop, meanwhile, is 2-0 in conference matchups so far, topping Presbyterian 19-6 to open the season, and Gardner-Webb 17-10 on the road last weekend.

Leading the Camels
Sam Bischoff, a freshman from Pomona, N.Y., owns a team-high 22 points with 18 goals, including 14 unassisted scores, while
Julianna Sanchez has also tallied 18 goals with 68 draw controls and 14 ground balls on the year.
Megan Matthews has posted 21 points on 12 goals and a team-best nine assists, while
Lizzie Yurchak has registered 16 points with 18 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and 35 draw controls.
Rebekah Taylor has caused a team-high 10 turnovers with 14 ground balls, while
Chandler Stewart owns nine caused turnovers with 13 ground balls.
Alex Salim has a .438 save percentage, leading the Big South.
Matthews, Salim named Big South players of the week
After picking up a thrilling road win,
Megan Matthews and
Alex Salim both earned
Big South player of the week honors. Matthews took home offensive player of the week accolades, while Salim earned the defensive nod.
Matthews totaled six points on the week, including the game-winning goal at Coastal Carolina, tacking on two ground balls and a caused turnover. In a 7-7 tie game with five seconds on the clock, Matthews took the inbound pass, driving from behind the left side of the cage and scoring through contact for the game-winner, 8-7, at Coastal. The redshirt freshman totaled two goals and an assist against the Chanticleers, adding three goals for her first hat trick of the season against Furman.
Salim, meanwhile, tallied 21 saves with a .488 save percentage in two games last week. Her biggest save of the week came with 1:05 on the clock in a 7-7 game at Coastal, stopping a Megan Bozzi free position attempt, setting up Matthews' game-winner at the horn. Salim registered 11 saves with a ground ball on the afternoon. The redshirt junior then posted 10 saves with a ground ball against Furman. Salim has posted double figure saves in each of the last three games.
So far this season, seven different Camels have received Big South weekly honors.
Last time out
With Campbell looking for its second goal with under a minute to play in regulation to tie, Meghan Deehan came out with the ground ball, sealing the 15-14 Furman win
Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
In the fifth all-time meeting in the series, the Camels and Paladins played to their fourth one-goal game, with the series being separated by six total goals.
After Yurchak's fourth goal of the day tied the game at 12-all with 11:46 on the clock, Campbell posted five turnovers over its final nine possessions.
Meagan Beal's goal with 1:02 to play gave Furman a 15-13 lead before Yurchak answered with a free position score, her fifth goal of the afternoon, with 41 seconds remaining.
Shae Fitzgerald controlled the ensuing draw, but Rachel Sindler forced a CU miscue with six seconds to go in its final possession.
Furman converted all 18 of its clears with eight turnovers, while forcing 19 in the win.
Scouting Winthrop
Winthrop is led by Bianca Tedesco's 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists, while Lauren Morris owns 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists. Alyssa Angelo and McKenna Blick have also registered 15 goals apiece, while Kimora Bailey has notched 14 ground balls with eight caused turnovers.
The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Camels 6-2, taking the last meeting with the Camels 13-12 in overtime in 2019.
