Camels to host No. 25 ECU Tuesday night

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell (1-2) is set to host East Carolina (0-3) Tuesday night at Jim Perry Stadium in a pivotal game for both clubs. Both teams dropped their season-opening series and will be looking for needed wins.

Game Time/Projected Starters
Tuesday Feb. 22, 5:00 p.m. | WATCH
Campbell: Ryan Chasse, R-Jr., LHP (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 SV)
ECU: Carter Spivey, Jr., RHP (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Both projected starters made one appearance during the opening weekend. Chasse picked up a three-inning save on Opening Day, striking out five over his three innings of work.

Spivey worked just one inning on Sunday and struck out the side, but did allow a walk.

Series History
The Camels are 24-54 all-time against the Pirates, with a 12-23 record at home. The program's first met in 1978 where they split a doubleheader. The last meeting saw Campbell take down No. 16 ECU 7-2 at Jim Perry Stadium on Feb. 19, 2020. Current Camels Waldy Arias, Connor Denning and Zach Williams all had hits in that game, with Williams logging three RBIs.

Last Time Out
Campbell went just 1-2 against Appalachian State to begin the year. Campbell's bats struggled to find any rhythm as App State held Campbell without a hit for six innings on Saturday and through four innings on Sunday. As a team, Campbell is hitting just .182 as a team and was held without a home run for three games for the first time since the 2020 season.

Campbell pitching was solid during the weekend, posting a team ERA of just 2.33 and striking out 37 total batters. Thomas Harrington led that effort with 13 Ks in just six innings, good for Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week.

About East Carolina
ECU was tabbed in the No. 8-15 range across the preseason polls, but got upset by Bryant at home to begin the series. Bryant took all three games at Clark-LeClair Stadium, winning by eight in the opener and by one in both of the next two games. ECU now sits at No. 25 in the D1Baseball rankings.

Alex Makarewicz leads the Pirate offense so far, hitting .364 across 11 at-bats with a home run and two RBI.

East Carolina is led by eighth-year head coach Cliff Godwin.

Attendance Policies
Gates will open 90 minutes prior to first pitch. Parking is available at Jim Perry Stadium and behind Gore Arena. Campbell's clear bag policy will be in effect.

Weather Report
Mostly cloudy with high a high of 72, low of 62.
