BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Thomas Harrington was named the Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after his Friday night win over Ohio State.
Harrington surrendered one earned run in the first inning before blanking the Buckeyes over the next six frames, including retiring the final 10 batters he faced. The sophomore finished with a line of 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 Ks.
Harrington has now posted 9+ strikeouts in all three starts this year and sit at fourth in the nation in total strikeouts, just three off the national leader. He also owns a sterling 33:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio, the second-best in the nation among pitchers with at least 30 strikeouts.
This is his second time winning the award in just three weeks this season, having also earned the honor after his opening day win over App State. Through his three starts, he owns a 0.90 ERA and a WHIP of 0.45.
The Camels are back in action Tuesday against UNCW at 6 p.m. at Jim Perry Stadium. Harrington's next appearance is expected to come Friday night in Campbell's first true road game of the season at No. 12 Liberty.
