Campbell men 2nd after day two of Big South Championships

Three school records broken, three Camels take podiums on day two

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Three school records were broken and three Camels earned spots on the podium as Campbell wrapped up the second day of the Big South Outdoor Championships Tuesday at Vert Stadium.

The Campbell men remained in second overall with 84 points through nine events while the women dropped back to fifth with 31 points.

IN THE FIELD
Shemar Miller set a new school and facility record in the men's triple jump, capturing first place with a mark of 15.59m (51' 1.75"). C.J. McBride took second in the event at 15.02m (49' 3.5").

Omar Ibrahim set a new school record in the men's shot put with a mark of 15.59m (51' 1.75"), placing sixth overall in the event.

In the women's shot put, Jenna Dankert took fourth overall with a personal best mark of 13.96m (45' 9.75").

Destiny Bailey-Perkins took fifth in the women's triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.12m (39' 9.25").

Improving on her own school record in the women's pole vault was Lakelyn Bass who cleared 3.99m (13' 1"), taking fourth overall.

ON THE TRACK
Jaden Jenkins started the Camels out on the track, qualifying for the finals of the 110m hurdles with personal best time of 14.51 in the prelims.

Athanas Kioko qualified for the 800m finals after running a season best time of 1:51.75 in the prelims.

In the men's 100m prelims, Dominique Alexander, Jadarien Parker and Jamel Miller all qualified for the finals of the event. Alexander finished second in the qualifying round with a 10.29, Parker took fifth in 10.45 and Miller finished seventh behind a personal best time of 10.49.

Caliyah McKeithan qualified for the women's 400m finals after she finished the preliminary round with the fourth-fastest time at 56.39.

Dorcus Ewoi took the top spot in the women's 800m prelims after clocking in a time of 2:12.95.

Rounding out the day on the track and earning a podium finish was Laderique McNeill who took second overall behind a personal best time of 8:57.63 in the men's 3000m steeplechase.
