CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After tossing her first career no-hitter, Georgeanna Barefoot has been named Big South co-pitcher of the week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Barefoot made three appearances and two starts on the week holding a 2.44 ERA with a no-hit shutout and a combined shutout. In 14.1 innings of work she totaled 16 strikeouts and held opposing batters to hit just .173 against her.
On Tuesday the Raleigh, N.C. native threw five innings of relief work against nationally ranked No. 11/13 Duke, striking out eight batters.
Barefoot returned to start the first game of the Camels' series against Gardner-Webb on Sunday, throwing 2.1 innings. She struck out three batters and combined with Kayla Howald to shutout the Runnin' Bulldogs.
A redshirt sophomore, Barefoot capped off her week by throwing her first career no-hitter against Gardner-Webb on Monday. She struck out five batters, had no walks and was just one Campbell fielding error away from a perfect game as Campbell earned a share of the Big South regular season title.
This is the fifth Big South pitcher of the week award Barefoot has earned this season, marking the most weekly awards won by a Campbell pitcher in program history. Barefoot is the first Big South pitcher to win five or more pitcher of the week nods in a single season since USC Upstate's Christina Biggerstaff in 2019.
Jessie Marvin of Radford was named the other co-pitcher of the week after giving up just one earned run, four hits and posting five strikeouts in two wins over last place North Carolina A&T.
