BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team's eight-game stretch away from Buies Creek concludes Tuesday as the Camels travel to Durham for a midweek matchup against the Duke Blue Devils at Smith Family Stadium.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Blue Devils enter with a 24-11 overall record and a 10-2 mark in the ACC. Duke sits second in the conference behind Florida State and has won 15 of its last 17 games. In last week's Top 25 polls, Duke was ranked No. 24 in the NFCA poll and No. 19 in the USA Softball poll. Duke is coming off an ACC series win over Stanford, taking two of three games. Stanford entered the weekend ranked No. 19 in the NFCA Top 25.
At the plate, the Blue Devils are led by Aminah Vega, who is hitting .452 with 51 runs, 14 doubles and a .514 on-base percentage. She ranks second on the team with 52 hits, is tied for second with nine home runs and is second with 37 RBIs. Vega was named ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 17. In the circle, Cassidy Curd leads the staff with an 11-2 record and a 4.37 ERA. She has recorded 80 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .232 batting average.
SERIES HISTORY
Campbell trails 7-2 in the all-time series. The teams have met every season since 2018, including twice in 2023. The last meeting came April 23, 2025, in Buies Creek, where Duke earned a 9-1 win in five innings. Senior
Charlie Montgomery scored Campbell's lone run and added a hit, while junior
Janel Day drove in the run.
In 2024, Campbell defeated then-No. 3 Duke, 3-2.
Allyiah Swiney and
Charlie Montgomery were both in the lineup, with Swiney scoring the game-winning run. Both Campbell wins in the series have come in Durham, where the Camels are 2-2 all-time against the Blue Devils. Those victories include the inaugural meeting in 2018 and the 2024 upset, both by 3-2 scores.
LAST TIME OUT
Campbell swept in-state foe and CAA South member Elon, marking its second conference sweep of the season, along with a previous sweep of Hampton. Both came on the road.
Freshman
Katelyn Hubley delivered a standout performance in a 3-1, 10-inning series-opening win Friday. She went the distance, while six different Camels recorded hits. DeSena went 2 for 4, Swiney added an RBI double and Ford drove in two, including the game-winning hit.
The Camels followed with a 12-0, six-inning shutout Saturday for their fourth shutout of the season. Swiney led the offense, going 3 for 4 with four RBIs, two runs scored and a home run. Ford and
Haley Krebs each added two hits and two runs scored, with Ford also contributing a double and an RBI. In the circle,
Kasey Wolfe earned the win with a season-high nine strikeouts, allowing four hits over six innings.
Campbell completed the sweep Sunday with a 15-4 win, its second straight game with double-digit runs. Wolfe and
Ryleigh Bennett combined in the circle, with Wolfe earning the win. The Camels totaled a season-high 17 hits and matched a season high with 13 RBIs. Montgomery, Specht and DeSena each recorded three hits, while Specht drove in five runs, the most by a Campbell player this season.
PUTTING THE LEAGUE ON NOTICE
Charlie Montgomery was named CAA Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 10 following her performance during the Camels' opening weekend. Montgomery slashed .643/.688/.857 in five games at the Campbell Stampede.
Allyiah Swiney earned CAA Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17 after a standout showing at the War Eagle Classic. Swiney posted a .571/.625/.929 slash line in four games against top competition.
Katelyn Hubley was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on March 3 for her contributions at the Battle at the Max tournament. Hubley made two starts, earning two wins with nine strikeouts and only two earned runs allowed over 12 innings for a 1.17 ERA.
Hubley earned her second CAA Rookie of the Week nod on March 30. Hubley delivered one of her top performances of the season in Campbell's extra-inning 3-1 victory over Elon on Friday. The Henrico, Va., native tossed all 10 innings and threw 124 pitches in the complete-game victory. The freshman surrendered just one hit and one earned run while striking out eight batters in total, including three in extra innings, to pick up her 10th win of the season.
Montgomery and Swiney's honors marked the second time since joining the CAA that the Camels have claimed back-to-back Player of the Week honors. The first instance came in 2024 with Alyssa Henault (March 25) and Mariana Rodriguez (April 1).
PRESEASON RECOGNITION
Campbell had a league-high four players named to the Preseason All-CAA team:
Hannah Cornetto,
Amber DeSena,
Charlie Montgomery and
Allyiah Swiney. The Camels also added two honorable mentions,
Alyssa Armijo and
Madison Ford, tying for the league high. Campbell's six total Preseason All-CAA selections are the most among all CAA teams.
NEWCOMERS IN THE CREEK
Campbell welcomes nine newcomers for the 2026 season. The group includes six transfers and three freshmen. Freshmen
