Wrestling welcomes 2022 signing class

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will welcome another highly touted signing class in the fall of 2022, featuring 10 wrestlers, announced today by head coach Scotti Sentes.

The group has combined for nine state championships, 23 state podium finishes and more than 1,300 career wins, coming to Campbell from eight different states.
 
Keegan Roberson

Keegan Roberson | Lockport High School (Illinois) | 157 pounds
Roberson will come to Buies Creek after amassing a 138-36 career record at Lockport High School. Projected at 157 pounds, Roberson is a former Illinois state and Powerade placer, as well as a three-time Cheesehead placer.
 
Devon Bell

Devon Bell | Laney High School (North Carolina) | 184 pounds
A North Carolina state champion and three-time state placer, Bell earned NHSCA All-American honors for Laney High School, carrying a 139-12 career record. The three-time freestyle state champ is projected to compete at 184 pounds.
 
Jack Hawbaker

Jack Hawbaker | Great Bridge High School (Virginia) | 149 pounds
Hawbaker will join the Camels from Great Bridge High School in Virginia, where he compiled a 107-12 career mark. The three-time state placer is projected at 149 pounds.
 
Tyson Musgrove

Tyson Musgrove | Suwannee High School (Florida) | 149 pounds
A Florida native, Musgrove put together a 176-44 prep career record for Suwannee High School. Taking third place at the Florida state championships, Musgrove is projected at 149 pounds.
 
Brant Cracraft

Brant Cracraft | Michicot High School (Wisconsin) | 165 pounds
A Wisconsin state champion, two-time state finalist and three-time state qualifier, Cracraft is a Michicot High School product. The Trackwrestling Preseason National Champ amassed a 121-27 career record before signing with the Camels. He is projected to wrestle at 165 pounds.
 
Hagen Heistand

Hagen Heistand | Underwood High School (Iowa) | 157 pounds
Another Preseason National Champ, Heistand has also claimed an Iowa state title, and is a three-time third place finisher at the state championships. Ranked as high as No. 18 nationally, Heistand posted a 186-9 record at Underwood High School. He is projected at 157 pounds.
 
Camron Lacure

Camron Lacure | Legacy Christian (Ohio) | 133 pounds
Lacure is a three-time state placer out of Ohio, taking two state championships to go along with a third place finish. Placing seventh at the UWW trials, Lacure owns a 146-13 career mark for Legacy Christian and is projected at 133 pounds.
 
Gunner Endicott

Gunner Endicott | Elmwood High School (Ohio) | 157 pounds
Endicott will join Campbell after a decorated career at Elmwood High School in Ohio. Carrying a 122-23 career prep record, Endicott is a two-time state qualifier, finishing fifth in the tournament in 2021. A former Fargo All-American (eighth, Greco), Endicott is projected to compete at 157 pounds.
 
Dom Baker

Dom Baker | New Kent High School (Virginia) | 165 pounds
The 2021-22 WIN Magazine Virginia Wrestler of the Year, Baker will join CU as a three-time state champion, ranking as high as No. 9 nationally. Baker captured a 2022 NHSCA Senior Nationals championship, also taking third in the NHSCA Juniors in 2021 and at the Walsh Ironman. The New Kent High School product also claimed a Northeast title in 2019, earning third in 2021. Projected at 165 pounds, Baker also owns a GFC finals appearance in 2020 in addition to 2019 Beast of the East All-American honors.
 
Zander Phaturos

Zander Phaturos | Waynesburg High School (Pennsylvania) | 125 pounds
Rounding out the signing class, Phaturos accumulated a 149-27 career record between Arizona and Pennsylvania's prep circuits. Before finishing his high school career at Waynesburg High (Pa.), Phaturos was an Arizona state champion and two-time state finalist. He then claimed a sixth place finish in the PIAA state tournament, also recording a sixth place Powerade finish, and a fifth place showing at the 2021 NHSCA Junior Nationals. He is projected at 125 pounds.

Campbell is coming off its fourth straight Southern Conference tournament championship, and fifth conference tournament title in the last six seasons. All 10 Camels in the 2022 field wrestled for medals, with nine earning spots on the podium, including  individual championships from Shannon Hanna at 141 pounds, Caleb Hopkins at 184 and Taye Ghadiali at heavyweight.

The Camels have sent at least six qualifiers to the NCAA Championships in each of the last four seasons.

Led by Scholar All-Americans Josh Heil and Caleb Hopkins, Campbell finished fifth in the 2021-22 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I Scholar All-America team rankings, an all-time high for the program.
