BUIES CREEK, N.C. –
Jay Pal has signed an athletics grant in aid with Campbell University, head men's basketball coach
Kevin McGeehan announced Wednesday.
Pal joins the Fighting Camels after spending the last two seasons with Jacksonville State, where he played in 55 games for the Gamecocks, who won the 2022 ASUN regular season title and played Auburn in the NCAA tournament. A 6-foot-9 forward from Omaha, Neb., Pal graduated from JSU and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining due to a Covid-19 waiver.
"Jay looks to be a perfect fit for us," said Coach McGeehan. "He brings experience and versatility. At 6-foot-9, he has the ability to provide much needed flexibility on both sides of the ball. He rebounds well, has the ability to guard inside and out and – like many of our bigger guys – dribbles, passes and shoots the ball well. He will be a great addition to our team."
Pal joins transfers
Devon Dunn (Fairleigh Dickinson),
Juan Reyna (Alabama State) and Jason Sinani (Milwaukee) and freshmen
Anthony Dell'Orso (Melbourne, Australia) and
Elijah Walsh (Leeds, England) in the 2022 Camel signing class.
The 2022 class joins a Fighting Camel program that won the 2019 Big South Conference regular season, advanced to the 2021 league title game, and finished second in the North Division last season. Now entering his 10th year in charge of the Camels, McGeehan has guided the squad to 105 victories over the last six seasons, the most in a six-year span in CU's Division I era, which dates to 1977-78.
