Tim Holmberg is tied for ninth individually and Campbell is 11th on the team leader board after Monday's first two rounds of the Graeme McDowell (GMAC) Invitational hosted UAB at Silver Lakes on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday on the par-72, 7467 Heartbreaker and Backbreaker layout.
Competing as an individual in his first collegiate event, Holmberg shot 74-75—149 on the Robert Trent Jones design and enters the final round just three strokes off the lead. Senior
Henrik Lilja rebounded from an opening-round 79 with an even-par 72 in the afternoon to move to T28th on the leader board.
No one in the 72-golfer field finished the day in red numbers. Jason Hong of Lipscomb (73-73—146) and Jake Marler of Louisiana (72-74—146) share the 36-hole lead at two-over par.
Louisiana (290-297—587) owns the team lead by eight strokes over Lipscomb. Campbell posted team score of 311-309—620 in the 12-school event.
Douglas Nordlof (78-78—156) is tied for 42nd place, while
Amadeus Susanto is T45th (76-81—157).
Alejandro Cogollo (80-78—158) is T49 and
Claude Churchward T57 (78-82—160).
The event is named in honor of former UAB All-American Graeme McDowell, who won the 2010 U.S. Open and led the European team to the Ryder Cup championship.
