BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Christabel Ezumah led all scorers with 18 points and Campbell defeated Charleston Southern 63-46 Saturday at Gore Arena.
Campbell (11-8, 6-2) never trailed and led by as many as 21 against a Charleston Southern (2-17, 0-8) team that has lost 13 straight.
After leading the Buccaneers by nine at halftime, Charleston Southern cut the Camels lead to two with 5:30 remaining in the third quarter. Campbell immediately answered with a 7-0 run to push the lead back to nine as the Bucs were unable to cut the gap any closer.
Gianni Boone scored 14 points, her 12th game in double-figures this season, and added seven boards, three assists and two blocks. Brittany Staves poured in 12 points and six boards while Svenia Nurenberg added nine.
The Camels shot 43.2 percent (19-44) from the field, made 21-of-26 free throws and out rebounded the Buccaneers 43-20. Campbell also edged Charleston Southern 28-26 in points in the paint and 11-2 on second chance buckets.
Kennedi Jackson led the Buccaneers with 12 points while Catherine Alben added 10 points off the bench.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday as it hosts High Point in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Fans are encouraged to wear ORANGE to the game.
