Camels host Hofstra Saturday

BUIES CREEK - The Fighting Camels wrap up the weekend at home against Hofstra for the first time in program history Saturday at 2 p.m.

Game Coverage
Saturday Jan. 13 - 2 p.m. | FloHoops | Listen | LiveStats

Series History
The Camels and Pride have never met on the hardwood. This is the second straight first-time opponent, with Thursday night's game against Delaware being the first in that series as well.

Know Your Opponent
Hofstra comes to Buies Creek with a 8-8, 1-2 mark and checks in at 115 in the NET rankings, the third-highest in the Big South. The Pride are covering some ground this weekend after playing Thursday in Boston, suffering a 71-68 defeat to Northeastern.

The offense is led by Tyler Thomas, the CAA's leading scorer with 22.8 ppg. The 6'3" grad student has gone over 20 points 12 times already this year, including a 40-point outburst against High Point. Thomas gets plenty of help from teammate Jaquan Carlos, who averages a CAA best 6.6 assists per game.

The Pride fell to UNCW in last year's CAA semifinal and earned a bid to the NIT, where they downed Rutgers in the first round. This year, Hofstra was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll. The team is led by Speedy Claxton in his third year with the program.

Last Time Out
The Camels led for nearly 37 minutes but had the lead slip away late in a 68-62 loss to Delaware Thursday night. The Camels got off to a roaring start, going up 14-0 less than three minutes into the contest. Up just three at the half, the second half began in similar fashion with an 8-0 run to lead by as many as 11 in the second half.

Delaware stopped the Camel scoring late and closed on a 9-0 run after taking their first lead with just 1:40 remaining.

Jasin Sinani had a big night with a team-high 16 points and his career-high 9 rebounds. Elijah Walsh also added a career-high with 15 points, his second straight game of a new career-best.

Looking Ahead
A pair of road games await the Camels next weekend at William & Mary and Towson. The Camels next play at home on Jan. 25 against Elon.
