BUIES CREEK, N.C. – For the second consecutive week, redshirt senior Anthony Molton has been named the SoCon Wrestler of the Week. The conference made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.
Molton was 3-0 on the week at 125 pounds, helping the Camels win their first Chippewa Challenge. His week was highlighted by a dominant tech fall victory over Jack Maida of American University. Molton defeated Maida, who was ranked in the top-15 in some publications, in 5:59 with a 25-7 score.
He would also go on to defeat Sean Spidle of Central Michigan, 3-1, in the first tiebreak round. His day ended with a 6-3 decision over Richard Castro-Sandoval of CSU Bakersfield.
After sitting out the first couple weeks of the season, Molton now sits at 11-4 on the year and 5-2 in dual matches. He has racked up three falls and three tech falls.
This past week, Molton broke into multiple top-30 rankings. He is ranked #26 on Intermat, #30 by FloWrestling and #29 by The College Wrestling Report.
Molton is the first wrestler to win the weekly award for a second time this season. He joins teammates Justin Rivera (12/20), Domenic Zaccone (12/6) and Taye Ghadiali (11/22) as winners of the conference wrestler of the week award so far this year.

Anthony Molton
On the aspects he feels have had the biggest impact on his improvements this year:
"I think I've put all the pieces together. In practice, I'm hitting everything hard, doing the extra work as much as I can. Off the mat, I've been eating the right things and losing the weight the right way. That's all part of the process of going out there and winning the match. I think all that together has really pushed me up to this level that I'm at now. I feel a lot better because of all those things."
On his mentality as the conference season is set to start:
"I look at the season as preparation for the conference tournament. Every match before that conference tournament is an opportunity to hone in on whatever I need to or anything I want to tweak and figuring out what works for me."
