Box Score CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Phillip Jordan edged out a 7-5 second set win for No. 13 North Carolina, clinching the best of seven matchup over visiting Campbell, 4-0, in the spring dual opener for both teams Thursday at the Chewning Tennis Center.
The Tar Heels will also play host to North Carolina Central Thursday evening.
Carolina took the tightly contested doubles point for the early lead in the matchup. After UNC's Patrick Schoen and Peter Murphy defeated
Pol Otin and Noe MacQuart, 6-1, the duo of Will Jansen and Karl Poling edged Campbell's
Lukas Steffen and
Tomas Balazi, 6-4, to seal the first tally for the Tar Heels.
No. 83 Will Peters (6-0, 6-1) and Will Jansen (6-1, 6-2) opened single play with wins for the Tar Heels. Jordan notched a 6-1 first set win before topping Balazi 7-5.
Next up, Campbell will head to Mount Olive on February 3 before hosting Barton in its home opener on February 4.
