Camels finish T6th at Furman Intercollegiate

Larsen Tegner shoots collegiate low 66, ties for 10th

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Joachim Larsen Tegner tied for 10th place, and Campbell finished tied for sixth on the team leader board following Sunday's final round of the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman University Golf Club.
 
No. 27 Texas A&M (274-281-274—829) won the 15-team event at 23-under par, two shots clear of host and 60th-ranked Furman.  No. 34 Wake Forest was third at 19-under as a team.
 
Campbell (293-286-283—862) was one-under on the day and tied for sixth with Davidson at 10-over par.
 
Larsen Tegner fired a collegiate-low 66 (-5) Sunday and finished the 54-hole event at 3-under-par 210 (73-71-66) on the par-71 Furman Golf Club layout.  He made 14 birdies on the weekend to tie for fourth in the 87-player field.  After making the turn at 1-over for the day, he birdied sixth of his last eight holes.
 
Erik Johansson (73-71-73—217), who made 40 pars to rank second in the field, and Henric Bjelke (75-72-70—217) tied for 37th place at 4-over, while Douglas Nordlof finished T52 (75-72-74—221) and Benjamin Killingstad T58 (72-72-78—222).
 
Wake Forest's Scotty Kennon (68-68-66—202) won individual honors at 11-under par, three shots ahead of Texas A&M's Phichaksn Maichon.
 
Campbell wrapped up its fall season with a pair of runner-up finishes at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate and Georgetown Intercollegiate in addition to sixth-place showings at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.
 
The Camels return to action Feb. 3-4 in the Battle at Briar's Creek on Johns Island, S.C.

The Course – Furman University Golf Club (Par 71, 7005 yards): The Furman Golf Club has been voted #1 Public Golf Course in Greenville, and the entire Upstate by the South Carolina Golf Ratings Panel. Furman University Golf Course was also ranked No. 17 in Golfweek's "Best Campus Courses" in 2016 and has received a 3.5 star ranking from Golf Digest. It is also where Furman alums and professional golfers Betsy King, Beth Daniel, Dottie Pepper and Brad Faxon honed their college games.  Designed by Richard K. Webel of Long Island, N.Y., and Walter Cosby, superintendent of grounds and greens at the famed Greenbrier Hotel and Golf Resort, the course was built in the late 1950s when few colleges had a course on campus.  The layout underwent a major renovation in 2008, where all 18 greens were reconstructed under USGA specifications and reseeded with Champion UltraDwarf Bermudagrass.
