Camels face Tar Heels for first time

BUIES CREEK - The Fighting Camels are set to face North Carolina for the first time in program history Sunday night at 8 p.m. in Chapel Hill. The game is Campbell's final non-conference game of the season.

Sunday's game will be broadcast nationally on the ACC Network with Kevin Brown and Dan Bonner on the call. The Campbell radio call will also be available on GoCamels.com or The Varsity Network App.

Series History
The Camels and Tar Heels have never met, despite being just an hour apart. Campbell is 1-37 all-time against current ACC members, owning a win over NC State in 1993.

Scouting the Tar Heels
UNC enters at 7-5, with all five losses coming against teams currently ranked in the top 25. The Tar Heels are coming off a win over No. 22 UCLA at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21.

The Heels are led by R.J. Davis, the returning ACC Player of the Year, averaging 18.5 points per game to lead UNC's total of 85.7 ppg, a mark among the top 20 nationally. Four Tar Heels average better than 11 ppg.

UNC was picked to finish second in the ACC preseason poll and began the year ranked No. 9 nationally before falling out of the AP Top 25. Carolina is led by fourth-year head coach Hubert Davis.

Last Time Out
Campbell fell 77-55 at home to Longwood on Dec. 18. Colby Duggan scored a team-high 13 points, with all 13 coming in the second half thanks to going 4-5 from distance. Caleb Zurliene had a solid night as well, with 8 points, five boards, two steals and three blocks.

Twelve different Camels saw the court and 10 scored, but they combined to shoot just 33% on the night.

Looking Ahead
Campbell begins CAA play at home on Jan. 2 against Drexel. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege.
