Series History
It is a brief history between the Camels and Hawks, having met twice in Dec. 1983 for a home and home. Campbell took the first meeting on Dec. 2 71-69 in overtime, and dropped the return trip to New Jersey on Dec. 15 73-77. After playing twice in less than two weeks, the teams have not met now in over 40 years.Â
Know Your Opponent
Monmouth sits tied with Campbell in the league standings at 6-6 so far this season, and just one game better overall at 13-12. The Hawks are coming off a split weekend with a win over William & Mary and a loss at Northeastern.Â
Xander Rice leads the squad with 24.1 ppg in league play, the best mark in the CAA. Rice, a graduate transfer, is one of just two Hawks to average double figure scoring along with Jack Collins at 10.2 ppg.
Monmouth is led by 13th-year head coach King Rice. The Hawks were picked to finish 11th in the CAA preseason poll.Â
Last Time Out
Campbell had its best offensive showing of the season in a 95-77 win over Stony Brook last Saturday. The Camels handed out 30 assists on 38 made FG, led by Laurnyas Vaistaras' 10-point, 10-assist double-double.
Anthony Dell'Orso carried the scoring load with a game-high 24.Â
The 95 points were the most scored by Campbell against a D1 opponent since the Chris Clemons led Camels put up 97 in the season opener against UNCW in 2018.Â
All five Campbell starters scored in double figures. Campbell scored 54 points in the paint and connected for 10 triples on the day.
Looking Ahead
Campbell will make the short trip to Drexel for a contest Saturday at 2 p.m. The Dragons face Hofstra at home Thursday night before welcoming the Camels to campus Saturday.
