SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – With three golfers among the top 13 individuals, Campbell stands fourth on the team leader board after the opening round of the Coastal Athletic Association men's golf championship at the Dataw Island Club Cotton Dike course.

Erik Johansson fired a 4-under-par 68 and is tied for fifth place.  Joachim Larsen Tegner and Henric Bjelke finished at 2-under 70 and are tied for 13th heading into Monday's second round on the par-72 Tom Fazio design.

Tim Holmberg is tied for 23rd (72) and Douglas Nordlof 43rd (76) though the first day of the 54-hole event.

The Camels turned in their best round to par (-8) of the season after making 20 birdies and 53 pars, while playing the par-5 holes at 10-under.

Defending champion UNC Wilmington holds the first-round lead at 16-under 272, two shots ahead of Elon and four clear of top-seeded and 55th-ranked College of Charleston.

Sander Akeren and Gray Mitchum of UNCW are on top of the individual leader board with Kieron van Wyk of Charleston and 6-under 66.

Johansson made five birdies on the day.  The only blemish on his scorecard was a bogey on the par-four 17th, when his drive found a fairway bunker and he had to play his second shot short of the green.

Bjelke made seven birdies, including ones on the final two holes, while Larsen Tegner had four birdies and 12 pars in his round.  Holmberg made three brides overall, plus an eagle on the par-5 third hole.

No. 55 College of Charleston is the top seed, followed by the defending champ and 74th-ranked UNCW.  Elon (92) carries the third seed, followed by Drexel (111), the Camels and Delaware (197).

The Camels will again be paired with Drexel and Delaware for Monday's second round and start from the first tee at 10:30 a.m.  Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.

The winner of the CAA Championship will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA regionals May 13-15.
