Camels host Charleston for home finale, head to Wesleyan

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will host the College of Charleston in its 2023-24 home finale on Wednesday, April 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nisbet Tennis Center.

Following Wednesday's matchup, the Camels will head to North Carolina Wesleyan for a 4:30 p.m. contest, rounding out the regular season.

The Camels (10-7) split last week's action, falling 4-3 at No. 63 UNCW before collecting a 6-1 win over Presbyterian at home. Against the Blue Hose, Campbell earned the doubles point with Damien Nezar and Tomas Balazi's 6-2 victory over Austin Skoog and Javier Matos. After a forfeit at No. 6 singles, Luke Tollenaar posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Skoog, and Benjamin Maes clinched the match for the Camels, topping Mamalat 6-3, 6-1.

After another unbeaten week, Damien Nezar was named CAA Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Elon's Veljko Krstic.

Nezar won both of his matchups at No. 1 singles on the week. The junior topped UNCW's Harold Huens, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on Friday, nearly helping the Camels earn a come-from-behind win over the Seahawks on the road. Nezar then defeated Presbyterian's Javier Matos 6-2, 6-2 on Saturday at home, leading Campbell to a 6-1 win.

An Eden, South Africa native, Nezar also paired with Tomas Balazi to down Matos and Austin Skoog 6-2 in doubles competition against PC, clinching the doubles point for the Camels. His doubles match at UNCW went unfinished.

Charleston is 11-8 on the season, most recently topping Davidson 4-3. Wesleyan, meanwhile, is 12-5 overall, winning nine of its last 10.

The 2024 CAA Men's Tennis Championships begin on April 18 in Williamsburg, Va.
